A home for those the world leaves behind
Beyond its core function as an orphanage, Yayasan Cornelia in Bali provides care, support and facilities for people who are vision impaired, giving a real opportunity for over 60 people at living an independent and dignified life.
In Indonesia, being born with a disability carries a social burden that in most areas results in neglect, isolation, and in some cases, what can only be described as torture. People who cannot advocate for themselves are left behind by systems that were never built to include them. Yayasan Cornelia is one of the few places actively working against that. That is where we come in.
Why we do this
My mum went blind in her 50s, no defined cause, no real explanation. It just happened. Watching someone you love lose their sight and navigating what that means for their daily life and future gives you a rare empathy that you cannot manufacture, and seeing how things can become more difficult over time, a real strength to spur us on.
The difference between my mum's experience and the life of someone born blind in rural Indonesia is huge, the gap is enormous, and unfortunately disabilities are not talked about enough. Access to doctors, support systems, social experiences and human kindness is an endeavour we have chosen to support.
Growing up in Bali, being part of the social fabric and even producing out of here, I have seen firsthand how people with disabilities can be treated and it still resonates to this day.
Z&T creates in Bali, it is where all facets of the craft come from: the fabrics, the production, the people. The fractured existence of those with disabilities lives in the same world as our brand. This is not about marketing. It is the way forward for people with disabilities in Bali, and beyond.

Yayasan Cornelia will receive one hundred percent of our profits from the Braille Tee range. Braille is the language for those who cannot see, and using raised dots across the range is completely intentional.
