The Right Peice Didn't Exist
Z is Zhabi Talib.
&
T is Tetahi Cowen. Friends for seven years, since school - where the ideas started.
We wanted clothes that worked for us and never found them. The fit was off. The colours were wrong. The logos screamed for attention. The right piece didn't exist, so we made it. It still doesn't, in most places.
Gil Cowen founded Mogil, a fashion brand, in the early 2000s. She mentored us from the start - and opened the door to some of the most experienced manufacturers in Bali. Workshops that have been building clothing for decades.
Zhabi is in Bali. Tetahi is in Australia. Nothing ships unless both of us would wear it. There are plenty of debates. They end when the piece is something we're both happy with.
Natural fabrics, handmade, finished before it ships. The kind of thing you wear until it's yours.
Not built for a trend cycle. Not designed for mass market. Made in Bali, by hand, in runs of fifty. Never repeated. Once it's gone, it's gone.
25 years of craft
No blanks. Nothing bought off a shelf and printed on. Every piece is built from the ground up - cut, sewn, and finished by hand.
The workshops we work with have been at this for 25 years and longer. There are no shortcuts in the process. Natural fabrics - Supima cotton, bamboo jersey, French terry - sourced for durability in heat and cold.
The pieces are made to look better with time. Wash them. Wear them. They earn their wear.
No trends, No restocks, No pitch
Fast fashion makes clothes that are designed to be thrown away. Worn a season, replaced, repeated. it's ugly.
Clothes are meant to be worn over and over. The best pieces stay with you - worn for years, better every time. That's what Z&T makes. Craft and quality first. We're not here for the largest margins. We're here to make pieces that last.
Z&T is not just a sustainability brand. Natural fabrics are the standard, not the marketing angle.
It is not built for everyone. Not exclusionary. Just not trying to widen the net for its own sake.
Because we care
